While most people would have milked early stardom and remained in the spotlight, Brisebois pursued her passion right away. Brisebois realized early on that her passion lay in singing and songwriting and by 17, she left the acting world. Gregg Alexander, who began working with Brisebois since her first album, had a group of his own called the New Radicals. Brisebois not only joined it but co-wrote the song "Someday We'll Know" for their album. She received an Oscar nomination for the emotional hit. Brisebois succeeded in the pursuit of her writing goals, and in that time she met the love of her life. In , she married Nick Lashley, a British songwriter and producer.

Danielle Anne Brisebois born June 28, is an American producer, singer-songwriter and former child actress. She is best known for her role as Stephanie Mills on the Norman Lear -produced sitcoms All in the Family and its spin-off Archie Bunker's Place for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award , as well as playing Molly in the original Broadway production of the musical Annie. After she retired from acting in the late s, Brisebois pursued a music career. She was one of the two permanent members of the short-lived rock band New Radicals , along with her longtime songwriting partner Gregg Alexander , and served as the group's keyboardist, percussionist and backing vocalist. She has written or co-written a number of songs, including Natasha Bedingfield 's hit singles " Unwritten ", and " Pocketful of Sunshine ". She is of French-Canadian and Italian descent.
